What is the difference between bank checks and checks printed by outside printers?

Checks from an outside printer are available in a variety of colors and themes, and they usually cost more than those you get from your bank, but those are the only real differences. They all work the same way.
I don’t know where Jodi is buying her checks, but bank checks cost the most (unless you receive free checks from your bank, usually reserved for senior citizens). I can get 4 boxes of checks from “outside sources” for less than the cost of 2 from my bank.
